Single Opt-In vs Double Opt-In
Single opt-in adds a subscriber after the initial form submission. Double opt-in asks the person to confirm through a follow-up message before they become fully subscribed.

Single opt-in
The signup path is shorter, which reduces confirmation friction. The tradeoff is that mistyped, low-intent or unauthorized addresses can enter the list more easily.
Double opt-in
The extra confirmation step can reduce final signup volume, but it provides stronger evidence that the address owner intended to subscribe.
How to choose
Consider your legal/compliance requirements, audience expectations, acquisition source and tolerance for list-quality risk. Do not treat either method as a substitute for clear consent language.
Improve the confirmation experience
If you use double opt-in, tell people immediately that another step is required and explain what to look for in their inbox.
