Email Subject Lines: Write for Clarity and Relevance
A subject line should help the right subscriber decide whether the message is worth opening. Clarity and relevance are more durable than tricks.

Match the message
The subject line should accurately represent the email. A curiosity gap that disappoints readers can trade short-term opens for long-term trust.
Make the benefit specific
When there is a clear outcome, name it. Specificity helps the reader understand why the email matters.
Use urgency only when it is real
Deadlines and scarcity should reflect actual conditions. Manufactured urgency is both an integrity problem and a poor long-term relationship strategy.
Test within your own audience
Different lists respond differently. Treat subject-line testing as local evidence rather than proof of a universal formula.
